Road racing is here! March is packed with road racing classics such as, the Merco Credit Union Crit and RR, the Pinole TTT and the Ronde Van Brisbeen. Meanwhile, triathlets can test their skills at the Little Treeathlon at Stanford and Ralph’s ½ Ironman in SoCal.

Daylight Savings Starts Early!

Don’t forget that daylight savings time is early this year (March 11)! Because we can ride outside in the evening very soon, we are ending the Indoor Peloton series, and the last night of the series is March 6. Look for more announcements about an outdoor workout on Tuesdays to replace the Indoor Peloton! We are, however, continuing the strength work at with Al Painter.

Training Camp Wrap Up

I’d like to thank everyone for a successful training camp this year! Thanks in particular to all our guest speakers (Al Painter, Angie Weinberger, and MaryAnn Levenson), our sag support drivers (Jim Turner, Bob Parker, Andi, Jill Painter, and Al Painter), all the massage therapists, and Ritchey for contributing the raffle prize. SportVelo’s offers Contra la Montre TT Camp

SportVelo is offering another camp this year, the Contre la Montre TT camp, March 16-18. We’re excited about our first TT-only camp! We’re planning all sorts of activities to help you improve your TT skills, such as lectures, position evaluations, and even a race to test your skills. Triathletes and road racers alike can benefit from this camp, and you’ll learn about everything aero from strategy and tactics to equipment and position. We are keeping the number of participants very low so that we can give you individual attention, so sign up soon if you want to improve your TTing!

Have a Cold? I’m not surprised!

I’m noticing that there are more colds than usual floating around. First of all, don’t worry! It takes a total of 6 weeks of inactivity to totally lose your fitness. So although 3-5 days of little to no activity is no fun, and may require an adjustment in your short-term training and racing goals and objectives, it is not the end of the world. Be patient! Everyone gets sick. Stressing about it only makes it worse. And remember, rest is highly underrated. Check out Should you Train When You’re Sick? for even more info.
